Problem
Why are automated and manual listed in a benchmark that is not supported by CIS CAT?
Solution
When we build benchmark recommendations we test the settings and put them in place to note if they can be automated or not. Many vendors integrate the content into their tools even if we don't have the xccdf/xml files. They take the recommendations that can be automated and integrate them according to their tool. CIS Benchmarks are multi-faceted and are not only for the CIS CAT Assessor assessment tool. Communicating to the members what can be automated or not informs them how to configure and assess their systems using different tools etc. This simply communicates how each recommendation can be applied to their environment.
