How do you expand disk size for Azure CIS Hardened Images?

Solution

Expanding disk size of a CIS HI or a standard base VM in Azure is a function of Azure’s platform. To expand disk size, please follow the Azure instructions: Expand virtual hard disks on a Linux VM - Azure Virtual Machines. As mentioned in the article, “The default virtual hard disk size for the operating system (OS) is typically 30 GB on a Linux VM in Azure.” Another option is to build the Azure CIS HI on a larger instance size instead of alteration after deployment.
