How to upgrade from CIS-CAT Pro Assessor v3.x to CIS-CAT Pro Assessor v4.x

You’ll need to copy the personalized content of your v3 configuration files to the v4 configuration files as they have all changed formatting from v3 to the latest CIS-CAT Pro Assessor v4.

Next, “upgrading” is easy in the sense that Assessor is more of a tool than an application. For the basic upgrade you’ll:

• Verify you have Java 8 or 11 installed if you plan to run from the command line, the GUI has a self contained Java

• Download the newest available CIS-CAT Pro Assessor here: CIS-CAT Pro Assessor, v4

• Unzip the directory and place where you would like to run it from (A note about where you locate the v4 GUI: Cannot launch CIS-CAT Pro Assessor® GUI)

• Produce and use the License files:

  • Where do I put my required License Key for CIS-CAT Pro Assessor v4.x and CSAT Pro to use the full features

• Launch Assessor CLI/GUI.exe as an Admin

  • When using a GUI basic scan you will simply launch the GUI from the newly downloaded Assessor v4 directory

  • When using a Command Line basic scan you will simply cd into the new directory and run the scan from the Assessor v4 directory directory as you likely have been
