Problem

I am receiving different scores when running a local Linux assessment versus a remote Linux assessment.

Solution

  1. Confirm the same CIS-CAT Pro Assessor v4 version is being used for both assessments

  2. If the versions are not the same, please upgrade to the latest version and re-test

If the versions are the same, see the below solution:

  1. Open the remote assessment’s HTML report

  2. Go to any ‘Unknown’ result

  3. View the Assessment Evidence

There will be a permission denied statement similar to this one:
sudo: unable to execute /var/tmp/ccpa-temp-20220414T131003769/sestatus_check.sh: Permission denied

This is most likely caused by having noexec on the temp path being used. Changing the temp path in the sessions file to a mount point with exec privilege's and without noexec on it should resolve the issue.

Follow the steps in this support article on how to change the temp path used for an assessment - Linux Assessment Trouble
