Problem

While creating a CIS Image in the CIS EC2 Image Builder I subscribed to the 4.14 Kernel version.

Do I need to re-subscribe to a new Image to get a different Kernel Version?

Solution

At this time, we offer different kernel versions for Amazon Linux 2: 4.14 and 5.10.

  1. If you are currently interested in moving from kernel version 4.14 to 5.10, that process is just like any other subscription process. To do so, you will need to subscribe to kernel version 5.10 separately from 4.14.

  2. If you would like to use the CIS Hardening Component in EC2 Image Builder, then you can use either Kernel Version to access the CIS hardening component in EC2 Image Builder. This process can be accomplished by following the same subscription process you normally would in the marketplace.

This Quick Start Guide will provide additional details about the new CIS EC2 Image Builder:
