Problem
Running CIS-CAT Pro Assessor on Mac systems is different than on Windows and Unix systems. How do I run CIS-CAT Pro Assessor on macOS?
Solution
First, be sure you’re downloading the correct version. For this example, I’ve selected the Mac with GUI and Java version:
Unzip the the Assessor package on your desktop and you should see a folder titled “Assessor” appear:
Click on the “Assessor” folder and you should see the following contents:
Click on “
Assessor-GUI.dmg
" and you should see theAssessor-GUI Installer.app
appear:
A DMG file is an Apple Disk Image file, which is a mountable disk image.
After clicking on the installer app you will be prompted to enter your password by the Assessor-GUI Installer:
Note that you may receive the following warning. Click “Ok” and re-run the installer until it stops asking:
After successfully navigating the warnings, you should see the following progress bar:
