Problem

I can run a successful Assessment using Assessor-CLI v4.+ but I am unable to run a successful Assessment using the Assessor v4 GUI. The GUI remains blank after selecting the desired Benchmark and Profile.

Solution

The problem likely lies in the location of your \Assessor-CLI Directory. White Spaces in the local file path can stop the GUI from successfully completing an Assessment - even if the application launches and you are able to select the desired Benchmark.

To resolve:

  1. Navigate to your \Assessor-CLI directory

  2. If the directory is in a location with spaces in the file path, for example C:\Program Files or C:\CIS File Share

  3. Move the \Assessor-CLI directory to a location with no Whitespaces in the File Path.

  4. Launch the Executable Assessor GUI and move through the Assessment.

If you have configuration files that have been modified to contain the File Path to Assessor-CLI, you will need to update those .config files accordingly
