Quick Start Guide: CIS-CAT Centralized Workflow for Windows
Requirements
You will need to download CIS-CAT Pro Assessor v4 “with Java” from WorkBench to your hosting system - in this document
CIS-CAT-Assessor-windows-GUI-jre-v4.36.0.zip
is downloaded to a Windows server.Download your CIS-CAT license zip file from WorkBench - see this information if you are not sure where to get your license file.
Administrator access to your CIS-CAT host server.
CIS-CAT Centralized workflow requires Java versions 8 or 11, which is included in the “with Java” download of Assessor v4 under the
\jre
folder.
Implementation Steps
Create the directory
C:\CIS
Create the subdirectory
C:\CIS\Reports
Open File Explorer → right-click on the
C:\CIS
directory → Properties → Sharing → Share → Select the appropriate users → Share → Done → Apply. Make a note of the Network Path for later.Extract the
CIS-CAT-Assessor-windows-GUI-jre-v4.36.0.zip
archive to theC:\CIS\
directoryExtract your downloaded license zip file into the
C:\CIS\Assessor\license\
directoryCopy
C:\CIS\Assessor\misc\Windows\cis-cat-centralized.bat
toC:\CIS\
Open the
C:\CIS\cis-cat-centralized.bat
file in a text editor and in the lineSET NetworkShare=
replaceNETWORK_SHARE
with the Network Path from step 3, e.g.\\hostname\CIS
Open a CMD prompt as Administrator and run C:\CIS\cis-cat-centralized.bat
.

Troubleshooting Steps
Ensure that you have extracted the CIS-CAT zip file, and that the files are located under C:\CIS\Assessor\
