Problem

I am missing a package in my CIS HI. It was in a previous version of a image, but is now missing

Solution

From Erin Dayton -

We build off the base image available in the given CSP, run an update to align with the most recent patches, updates, kernel version, etc. and then we harden in accordance with the corresponding CIS Benchmark. Unless packages or installations align with the CIS Benchmark recommendations, we do not remove or add in any additional packages, tools, etc. As base images, kernel versions, etc. changes consistently and are outside of our control and maintained by the vendor and the CSP, there can be variability between versions we release related to tooling and packages and are not a result of CIS hardening. If there is a package or tool not present, it would be the end users responsibility to add it.
