What are some Frequently Asked Questions for the updated SecureSuite Licensing Format?

Solution

  1. Will the new license change require an entirely new download and installation?

Eventually, yes. The current plan is to keep v1 and v2 licenses active for a few months, with the v1 licensing working until February (a specific date will be sent out to customers). Before that date, a customer will have to download and activate a new version of the software. This would be any upgrade published between now and that date. Specific versions will also be noted and posted, most likely to Workbench.

  2. Will any data be lost?

No data will be lost. The license change is purely due to the licensing system. The user action is just to update their software and apply the refreshed license.

  3. Can I install the new key on the current install?  I am working on CIS-CSAT and don’t want to have to start over.

No. The licensing system is built into the product, and a new v2 license won’t work with a v1-only system. Your upgrade should not cause any problems with an ongoing assessment, and members should expect a few more releases between now and the cut-off date. As always, we encourage members to keep the software up to date with the latest version wherever possible.

  4. Do you know what will happen if members don’t download/install the new key?  Will CSAT produce an error message?

Offline licensing will continue to work with old versions of the software. However, no new features or security patches will be applied to their systems. We do not recommend this. Online licensing will continue to work until the cutover, which should provide members with a suitable grace period to download and install their updates.
