Problem

Running CIS-CAT Pro Assessor on Mac systems is different than on Windows and Unix systems. How do I run CIS-CAT Pro Assessor on MacOS?

Solution

  1. First, be sure you’re downloading the correct version. For this example, I’ve selected the Mac with GUI and Java version:

  1. Unzip the the Assessor package on your desktop and you should see a folder titled “Assessor” appear:

  1. Click on the “Assessor” folder and you should see the following contents:

  1. Click on “Assessor-GUI.dmg" and you should see the Assessor-GUI Installer.app appear:

A DMG file is an Apple Disk Image file, which is a mountable disk image.

  1. After clicking on the installer app you will be prompted to enter your password by the Assessor-GUI Installer:

Note that you may receive the following warning. Click “Ok” and re-run the installer until it stops asking:

  1. After successfully navigating the warnings, you should see the following progress bar:

  1. Please wait up to a minute for CIS-CAT Pro Assessor to load:
