Problem

The account login for the CIS Ransomware Business Impact Analysis (BIA) tool is not successful.

-or-

The password reset email is not received.

Solution

  • You can reset your account password using the following form and your registered email:
    https://bia.cisecurity.org/password_reset_form/
    The reset email will originate from no-reply@cisecurity.org, which may need to be allow-listed in your spam or enterprise email filtering solution.

  • Ensure you are signing in with your BIA username, not your registered email address. If you do not recall your chosen username, it is included near the bottom of the password reset message:

     

  • If 5 incorrect logins are attempted within a short timespan, the account will be automatically locked for 15 minutes. The following message is displayed on the BIA website after a login attempt:

    In this case, please wait ~15-20 minutes before attempting a new sign-in after a password reset using known valid credentials, as otherwise the login may be rejected even if the username and password are correct.

Should none of the steps above allow you to regain access to your account or you do not receive the reset email messages after ensuring deliverability, please open a case with CIS Product Support.
