Problem

The Centralized Scanning method using CIS-CAT Pro Assessor v4 is taking a long time to complete an assessment.

Or

I am unable to successfully get the Centralized Scanning method to work due to permissions issues.

Is there a method of getting the Assessor to work using the local SYSTEM account? We do not want to have to resort to using a service account to run this.

I would like to scan many thousands of targets using CIS-CAT Pro Assessor v4.

Solution

There is an alternative Centralized Scanning method developed by a power user which uses the SYSTEM account. This method builds CIS CAT into a package which can be used to scan multiple assets in an ephemeral state. This is done using the SYSTEM account. Members have reported improved scanning times.

To view this methods instructions, do the following:

  1. Sign into WorkBench

  2. Join the CIS-CAT Discussions Community if you have not already done so
