Problem

Using CIS-CAT Pro Assessor in Centralized Mode results in errors when using remote management tools such as PDQDeploy to invoke the cis-cat-centralized(-ccpd).bat script on an endpoint.

The batch file works properly when executed manually in an interactive Windows desktop session.

Solution

This issue occurs if the session running the batch file does not have access to required user and environment variables, such as those set for the Java path; this is the case for the SYSTEM user as well as other non-interactive service accounts.

For PDQDeploy cases, this can be addressed by running the deployment in ā€œDeploy User (Interactive)ā€ mode:

The exact settings for other applications will depend on the RMM tool being used.
