Problem

When running a local cisco assessment against a show tech-support config file I get the following error:

Obtaining session connection --> Local Cisco configuration file An error occurred creating the session for null@null:0. Ensure all session configuration information is correct. An error occurred creating the session for null@null:0. Ensure all session configuration information is correct. Unable to connect session --> null@null:0.

Solution

  1. Confirm you are assessing the show tech-support output from running the following command: switch# show tech-support > bootflash:TechSupport.cfg

  2. Confirm that the show tech-support config file has a .cfg file extension. (.log and .txt file extenstions also work)

    1. Open File Explorer

    2. Navigate to the location of your show tech-support config file

    3. Go to View and turn on File name extensions

d. Confirm the config file ends with .cfg – If it does not then rename the file to end with .cfg
