Problem

I have applied a CIS Build Kit and started to tailor the GPO settings and now one of the settings is grayed out.

How can we remove this setting and why is it grayed out?

 

Solution

Download the latest administrative template files(ADMX/ADML) and the security baseline from Microsoft for the OS you are using. Once you do that the GPO should no longer be greyed out. It is also recommended to check if the GPO setting is coming from the domain controller. If so, it will override the current setting set on the member server.
